In 2007 I was priveledged enough to be invited to the Collector's Meeting in Schaffhasuen
On the first evening I was sat at a table along with other invited guests one of whom was Richard Sheridan wearing not one, but if my memory serves me right two PPC's.
Atthe time being a Vintage Collector I must have been in denial but over the past few years I have had a couple of "modern" PPC's such as the GST model but they did not endear themselves to me.

I guess always in the back of my mind I kept remembering Richard's watches.

So finally it has happened and although it has taken me three years or so I now have a beautiful PPC which I can warm to

Its a 5021 07 Portugueser in Yellow Gold. I am sure you know it well so I will not bore you with lots of pictures but here it is
    Enjoy

and thank you Richard for sowing the seed dragging me from the vintage to the modern world

The IWC perpetual dial, in whatever iteration or metal, is a balanced beautiful and emotionally endearing proposition.
    Congrats on the acquisition.

One can never tire of looking at a portuguese perpetual calendar ....congrats Ivan on your celestial beauty.

Reading Ivan's post I too must give thanks also to Richard S for posting his 502218 & nudging me on for my 502303, rendering us both being now able to "anniversary" our PPCs in the same week every year. So thank you Ardoise !

Ivan. Congratulations. It is a great watch, introduced in 2003 but discontinued shortly after. I think the rose gold black dial remained as the prime variant in the Portuguese Perpetual line until the PPCII was introduced in 2006.

I remember that dinner in Schaffhausen very well. Victor Bucek stopped in for a drink too, if I recall, he was wearing this 5021 as well. Where has he been lately?

[QUOTE="Ardoise"]Ivan. Congratulations. It is a great watch, introduced in 2003 but discontinued shortly after.

The fact that it was a short production run is one of the things which attracted me to it Richard. Perhaps one day we may discover just how many were produced. Could possibly become more collectable due to low(er) production run.
I particularly like the clean lines the Yellow Gold gives to this watch. It really goes well with the silvered dial whereas the red gold lends itself better to the more darker colours.

    Best wishes

    Ivan

Congratulations, Ivan. It's a fabulous watch. Mr Sheridan's ambassadorial marketing of the White Gold PPC at that meeting cost me a few bob.

Many congratulations Ivan, what a great watch and the yellow gold certainly is refreshing given the trend for rose gold the last years! Also the white dial is striking!

Wear it in good health, best regards,

The Portuguese Perpetual Calendar is an amazing timepiece. It need not be adjusted via tools on different part of the case(unlike another brand) and that makes it really easy to use.

It's a piece special to me as well. Wear it in good health and congratulations.
