I recently purchase a 544501. This is my first manual winding timepiece. Could anyone please help to clarify some question I have?

the power reserve is supposed to be 46 hrs. How many times should I wind it in order to have the full power reserved? I do not dare to over-wind it, thus after approx. 25 rounds, I could only have the watch running for 26 hrs.

Does the watch have any mechanism to prevent me from over-winding it to avoid damaging the movement?

    Thanks

    Hi Simonrap,

    welcome to the forum and
congratulations on your purchase, a wonderful timepiece.

You cannot over-wind the movement unless you do it on purpose and violent.
With my 5454 I count until 40, these should be the turns you do until you
come to an "end". Then you should be a bit careful, another 3-4 turns and you can feel the resistance and your watch is fully wound. Mine keeps the 46 hours without any problem.

Now some pictures would be nice :-)

You cannot over wind. There will be a point where you can loner turn the crown. Stop there. I back mine off one or two turns at that point to release a bit of the tension in the power train. But that's just a personal thing I do.

Nice watch. Wear it in good health.

You can wind the watch until it blocks, after 40+ winds. There is no way you can damage the watch in doing so. Wind it every morning.

Great watch, I have two of them!
