Congratulations on sniffing this one out. Great detective work! I am still looking for a reasonably priced 866 but,as you know, they're not easy to find.

Great find, Tony. Here's hoping that one day you enter one of these shops and find a pretty, perfumed and knowledgable watchmaker in addition to a cache of vintage parts.

A reasonably priced 866 is an oxymoron, I'm afraid. :)

Quote: " This is the marvelous world of the vintage watch collector. It sure beats going to boutiques and talk to salespersons who know nothing about IWC or even watches. They may be prettier, better dressed, and even smell better, but the experience can't be compared. ?"

Antonio, absolutely aligned with you on the wonderful world of Vintage collecting. And indeed your observation about the difference in "feel" of a boutique (and of course some AD's) and the old watch stores.

Of course, the best (for those of us that also collect / like contemporary pieces) is when you do walk into a boutique and get approached by a knowledgeable Sales assistant - and YES, they are out there, but very scarce indeed. But then again, in defense of IWC Sales Department, lets be frank enough to admit, that the majority of luxury watch consumers today, are walking into that store, with very little understanding of horology and a desire to procure based mostly on cost and sadly also "status" appeal.
