A day in Schaffhausen

This week, I made an annual pilgrimage to Schaffhausen. I wanted to show my wife the museum and revisit the superb exhibition of 140 years of IWC.

I thought I would share a few pictures I took.

Before we went into the museum, we checked out the new vintage Portuguesier and Portofino. The later is on order but the Portuguesier is a very atrractive watch.

But....

Shock of all shocks...

This was taken in a second hand watch window in Zurich. The first time I have ever seen one outside the museum. It's yours for a huge number of Swiss Francs.

One final surprise was a military Ingenieur I found. Again, I have never seen one before. This one had a sand blasted steel case. At first I thought it was a Mark XI but then I saw the logo.

A magnificent 24 hours in Schaffhausen and Zurich.

No purchases.

To the Schaffhausen Boutique. They kept me entertained until the Museum opened and were very patient as I took a very close look at the VC Portuguese and Portofino.

And, thank you to Herr Ackerman at the Zurich Boutique who let me hold the platinum Regulateur Tourbillon. MF, you have the best looking tourbillon watch on the market. I also saw the FA Jones skeleton but it was the Regulateur Tourbillon that stole my heart.

Great report, Rave. I saw the Destriero Scafusia..

too in that window. The asking price was up in the stratosphere.
Oh well...if I win the lottery 8-)...than maybe...

Seeing these pictures makes me jealous and homesick to return for my 6th trip to Schaffhausen to get my annual rejuvenation. I will be back in late January or Early Feb for my ski trip to Zermatt. These photos bring back fond memories. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I love these kind of towns, I should visit Schaffhausen once upon a time. And I really love those watches, especially that Portuguese that will be mine soon: it makes my heart jump as it truly stands out.
