My flying visit to IWC HQ in Schaffhausen started just after 3 pm today. My plan was to arrive at approximately 1645 which would give me a few minutes in the Boutique to get my hands on the VC Ingenieur and VC Aquatimer. I was informed that only a VC Portuguese was in stock – but after a puppy dog eye look- miraculously a VC Ingenieur appeared as you can see below. Both the VC Portuguese and VC Ingenieur have the special engraving making them a little rare. I was exceptionally tempted to buy the VC Ingenieur on the spot – but I sort of promised my AD that I would buy from him and I prefer to be loyal (although I am thinking to call him tomorrow morning to find out delivery times for this model – and depending on his response calling the boutique. I heard that Switzerland can expect them only in Q3 (stretch)…but one news was that the VC Da Vinci has arrived in Basel this week. Actually I walked past my AD window twice today. Once it was in the window and the second time my AD indicated that it had already been sold.

I also had a few minutes to chat with a "new" excellent watchmaker in the After sales area. Unfortunately I cant recall his name but it was wonderful to talk with him in my best Basel dialect (best efforts), and also in French - he is orignally from Bienne and naturally skilled in French and German - about a couple of watches I had with me - not shown. Olivia found me in the boutique and then we headed off for my surprise meeting with Jacqueline.........(see earlier post)

I keep an eye open for the German national team double chrono in real life tomorrow evening since I will be at the Portugal – Germany match in Basel.
    Best wishes
    Andrew

PS: I was actually driving when taking the first photo. Luckily I got it first time. Camera on timer mode stuck under my chin. I think NAD must have a better technique.

    Germany - Portugal 0 - 1

You lucky Andrew live very near the holy grail. That Portuguese looks very nice on you. The contest between the two watches is clear to me: the Portuguese wins, 0 - 1 doesn't do the Portuguese full justice, in my opinion. As for the football, I hope for a similar result, as the Portuguese played better than the Germans until now. Have a lot of fun!

    Kind regards,
Paul, wearing the other beautiful Portuguese, the Perpetual Calendar

Thanks for the update. Is it sweater weather?

My friend in Wil said in his Canton it has been cool and not nearly summer yet. Thanks for the photos. I am finding out I may get my VC Portofino soon. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Yesterday was the first sunny day in

Switzerland this June. The IWC team was happy I brought the sun to Schaffhausen with me.

    Great report >

Regarding technique: driving in the US is a little bit more relaxed than Europe. ;-)

    The Portuguese looks great!

    Enjoy the soccer match.

    Thanks Andrew...

Very nice report! Do take care with the Nad shots however! Yours is truly exceptional but rather dangerous too :-)

    Kind regards,

Germany - Portugal 3 - 2: the football, that is

So, I do not change my opinion about the watches, but that was a great match where the Germans redeemed themselves. Good for them, they played great.

    Kind regards,
    Paul, wearing Saint Exupéry Chrono
