    Dear All,

I just want to share my happiness with all of you here, today is my birthday and not only did I receive my family back from overseas this morning, but my Mother in Law brought me a particularly nice present... A Mark XVII on bracelet...

And if that's not truly the cherry on top of the cake I don't know what might be...

Sorry for the quality of the photos, could be better but were taken in the spur of the moment.

The watch is really a classic piece, beautiful in its unadorned and straightforward way and it truly represents a piece of IWC history on a contemporary take.

I'm very proud to have it, thanks to my dear Mother in Law and to IWC.

    Thanks, Gents!

Can anyone tell me how to resize the bracelet...? Im used to the system in the AT bracelet but this one is a bit different.

    Thanks again.

I thought the new Mark XVII had a bracelet with a micro-adjustment feature. While the watch is on your wrist, press the button in the middle of the clasp, and either push or pull the bracelet till the size is right. A wonderful practical feature!

    Kind regards,
    Paul

    Hi Paul,

Yes, it does have the brilliant micro adjustment system, but I still do need to remove a couple of links.

At the ends it has the same system has the AT - one push button in the middle that you push with the one of the bronze tools and allows you to remove the pin with the other. But the remaining links have two push buttons (one each side) and no visible removable pin... Kind of confusing... I tried our search function to see if I could get more info but apparently is not working.

    Thanks for your input.

Wow, congratulations Jeronimo! What a magnificent present and it's great to see that good mother-in-laws do exist!

Enjoy your new watch and wear it in good health.

You obviously take very good care of her daughter :~)

It's a great watch, and you can now personally experience wearing it and comparing it to the other watch you like (you know...the one that comes in the Green box!) and guaranteed my monies on the fact that your findings will be "this one wears well!"

    Wear in good health.

And I guess I'm pretty lucky with my Mother-in-Law...!

Just doing my best, Mark ;-)

You made a good point, it is a great watch and quite a departure in terms of style from my Aquatimers. A bit more close to the one you referred to in terms of dimensions and it feels beautifully balanced. I really enjoy the fact that it is antimagnetic and a direct descendant of those brilliant Mark 11 and Mark XII. I do like the ones in the green box, but IWC has a special place in my heart... :-)

    Cheers!

Congratulations Jeronimo - what a treat and what a mother-in-law!

Happy Birthday and, of course, may you wear it in good health.

OK, as you got the watch as a present, the bracelet wasn't adjusted to your wrist size by the AD. I did take out one link myself, and had to put it back later, as the AD was right. I'm talking about my Spitfire Chrono, with the same bracelet. It is a bit difficult to explain, your booklet should show some pictures. You really have to take care to put all the tiny pieces with the right side up, so be well organised when you do it. The AD thought it a bad idea to do it myself, I saw her point while plodding on. Good luck!

    Kind regards,
    Paul
