    Hi

For anyone who own the portuguese hand-wound Ref 5454- what is the accuracy of the watch ... how many seconds or gains during the day. Please advise
    Thank you

This model should not loose time but can gain upto 7 seconds each day.
    i.e. the operating tolerance is 0/+7 sec/day.

    Hi Pouchon4044,
That person was mistaken. All IWC watches can easily achieve +2 sec/day but only under laboratory or workshop conditions.
The forces a watch is subjected to during every-day wear by the owner are so varied and specific to the individual that they cannot be replicated in the workshop. It is for this reason mechanical watches have a tolerance range(0-+7sec/day in your case) rather than a guaranteed, exact precision.

    Hi Leo,

I would like to thank you again for your explanation about the accuracy of the watch.

My Portuguese was not that accurate when it was new and was probably the most expensive watch in my collection and the most inccurate. I was determined not to let anyone loose on it. After 12 months it settled down and was fine after that. My advice is to relax and enjoy it and not worry about it. Hope this helps. Cheers. R

My Portuguese 545405 gains 5-6 seconds per day & it bothers me NOT, I just make the correction and keep loving it.
