I have had my Split Minute Aquatimer for two weeks now and have been wearing it daily. Today I checked the accuracy and it was fast by 2 seconds!

OMG, you're worried about two seconds. If this is a concern, you should think about a quartz watch. A two second variance is well within spec and spectacular result for a mechanical watch.

Bill...I may be interputing Ben's statement wrong but I don't think he's worried at all but rather ecstatic about the accuracy of +2. after 2 weeks. I know I would be.

Me too. I read headlne "accuracy issue" as being an issue. I apologize, if my conclusion is incorrect.

2 seconds? What are 2 seconds in 2 weeks worth, compared to the complexity of a split minute movement?

He is happy with 2 seconds. Definately.

You are quite correct Andy, I am ecstatic about the accuracy - two seconds in two weeks is remarkable, especially since it is several years old (I believe they were last produced in 2008). My PPC has had similar results at times but this is the best accuracy of any of my IWC watches. Of course there are many variables but I was extremely pleased with the initial performance.

Congrats again on that great watch Ben! Nice to see another here on the Forum. I wonder when the official production numbers will become available, it's quite rare!

    Kind regards,

I thank you and hope you give yours some air-time. They are quite unique and I would love to learn more about the actual split minute complication. When I first acquired mine I found that the second (split) minute hand started lagging behind the top minute hand after about 30 minutes of wear time. I continued to reset the split minute hand by turning the rocker on and then off every time I noticed the split minute hand lagging. After a few days I let the split minute hand lag for longer periods of time and then reset it. As the days passed the split minute hand behaved more and more properly and lagged less often. After a week, the split minute hand seemed to be behaving as it should, and still has - knock wood! I was initially suspicious that someone had knocked the watch or movement out-of-whack so that is why I monitored the timekeeping as well. I am pleased to say that everything now seems to be working to perfection but do not want to jinx it so I will just say that I must have been wearing the watch in the correct manner. Again - this watch has been discontinued for a while and obviously sat around so maybe it just needed to run a little. Anyway I am loving it!

I got my a IWC Portuguese Yachtmaster and I find it to be uncannily, almost eerily accurate. I didn't measure it to the second but I generally wear the watch once every 2 to 3 days and when I took it out again, the time is always accurate to the dot as when I first set it. Even once I accidentally left the chrono running for 2 days, it also didn't affect the accuracy. It is easily the most accurate of all my watches and I have APs, Omegas and Rolexes in my collection.

BENLEE - The IWC chronograph movement in the Yachtmaster was actually designed for the chronograph to run without effecting the timekeeping, thus allowing you to convert the watch from chronograph to dual-time if you start the chronograph at the right time and want to leave it running. The automatic winding mechanism is extremely efficient and can maintain the torque necessary to power the movement while the chronograph is running with ease. If it is fairly new you probably have the newest incarnation of the chronograph movement. I believe it was changed slightly - I own two versions of the movement and absolutely love both watches.
