    Hi everyone,

I just joined the IWC family with a Pilot's Chronograph (371701) a couple of days ago. I really like it very much! I have been monitoring the accuracy of the watch by comparing it against the observatory's time and note that it has been gaining around 3-4 seconds a day. Is it normal amongst other users? Is there any "run-in" period for new watches when the accuracy will be slightly lower until after operating for a couple of weeks?

    Many thanks for your advice!

My 3717 spitfire runs about +3-+4 as well.. That's pretty normal/decent. Every watch runs a bit different depending on the wearer etc.. Now where's the pictures?

Congratulations on an excellent choice. This was also my first too and had also a + 3-4 seconds per day and then after a run in of a few months I was delightd with the accuracy staying around 2-4 seconds per month.

I hope you can share some wrist shots.

Your 3717 is running well within the specifications for IWC's watches. I would not be so focused on accuracy so soon. Watches take sometime to settle in as the lubricants loosen up and move around a bit. I am not an accuracy freak. I am more concerned, if at all, with consistency than with spot on accuracy.

Relax and enjoy your watch. It is performing as designed. Post some pictures when you have the opportunity.

Good night to all of you,

I have the same IWC Pilot Chronograph (beautiful!) and mine delays 1-2 seconds per day. I have contacted with IWC and they told me that it's normal.

I read that it's normal for automatic mechanism not to be "really" accurate and that it depends on its owner, like a pet... It's alive on your hand.

Thanks everyone. By the way how do I upload a photo? I've clicked the "Picture" button but was then asked to enter an URL.

You are quite correct.. My 3 year olds quartz timex keeps better time than any of my Automatics! :)

My is running ca +3 seconds fast, i think its good.
Automatic watch will never be accurate as a quartz/digital watch.
But when you by an automatic movement you dont by perfect accuracy,
You by the passion, the history, the quality, the craftmanship, the spirit.

Thanks for all the comments. As one of you mentioned, consistency is more important - and I would like to report that after another week's observation my Pilot Chrono is consistently running at +4 seconds per day.

Craftsmanship of IWC watches is really excellent, and as Koen said, I am sure that this Chrono won't be my last IWC!

Enjoy the rest of the Sunday!
