Hi my friends.I did see in handbook that date in IWC will can not adjust between 8:00 PM and 2:00 AM to avoid possible damage in movement, but the almost sellers did not know about this and a consumer in shop can this action to set date in this time not permited.I have a doubt if one or two set of date in this time is enough to damage the movement or this a preventive action?Sorry my bad english.I wait your help.

An easy solution is to merely advance the hours / minutes hand forward to have the date advance to the next day. This will happen around the midnight setting. continue to advance the hour hand until 08.00 (8 am) and then you can use the quick date adjustment position on the crown to the correct date, if needed.

If you have a screw in crown, unscrew the crown. That position (0) is the winding position. The next position (1) is the quick date, if your IWC has this function. The third position is to set the hours and minutes.

As warned, never use the quick date function (crown position 1 between 20.00 (8 pm) and 02.00 (2 am). During those hours the gears are engaged for the date change and you can jam the movement.

Hi Bill B. i did know all you did write, but my doubt is other:I need to know if 1 adjust of date between 8:00PM and 2:00AM is enough to damage the watch because in shop a consumer can this the adjust the date in this specific time before purchase.A unique adjust in this specific time will be damage or the IWC recomendation is a precaution.Sorry my english.

Yes, someone in a watch shop might try to set the date at the wrong time. I have always wondered about this. How do you know that the watch you buy has not been damaged by someone just playing around with it.
The answer is to wind it and check the date movement before you buy. But there are no guarantees. Except for the warranty you get with a new purchase from an AD.
So to answer your question. Check the watch out before you buy it.

Your English was not the problem; the problem was my hasty reading and assumption of the question. Sorry to misinterpret your question. Good luck with your IWC. Alan's advice is right on.

I recently purchased IWC Portugieser automatic (7 days). It is very beautiful and stunning! However, i noticed that the date does not change instantaneously but takes about 20 minutes to do so starting at approximately 1140pm, during that period the date display is in-between the current and the next date. Is this a normal behaviour?

I have a similar question to the orginal poster.

I adjusted the date on my IWC watch during the window of time that one is not supposed to. Have I now broken or damaged the movement? How can I tell?

Wait until the next natural day/date changeover. If it works, you're okay. If not, have a watchmaker take a look see; preferably utilize an IWC service Center.

Is it normal to see the date completely change before midnight? Mine did that once.
