    Hello,

    Looking for some advise here.
I recently sent in my mission earth for a 2 yearly service and a maintenance service was completed.
Prior to the service, the watch was running at +1-3 secs/day.
Now, after the service, it is running slow at -30sec/day!

Is this normal? I really do not want to send my watch in for another 10 weeks.
I would have thought the watch would have been regulated.

    Thanks for the advise.

    Cheers.

You are not going to be happy until you send it back and regulate it. It is a great timepiece and should perform up to standard.

-30 seconds a day is absolutely not OK, especially after a service... It may have been bumped in shipping.. I suspect shipping it back to be regulated will not take 10 weeks, especially after you just had it serviced by IWC.. Give them a call..

One more quick thing ... Any watch that is running +1 per day doesn't need a service... I would stick to the 5 year rule.. As great as IWC is in their service centers, opening a watch generally leads to other "issues" ... I've seen everything from a spec of dust on the dial, to now a watch coming back -30 seconds..

It sounds like maybe your watch suffered from a few bounces whilst in transit on the way back to you - it is highly unlikely that IWC released your watch from the service centre with that kind of discrepancy.

Did you send the watch back via a local Richemont presence, a boutique or an AD? If either of the previous 2, you should be able to get it regulated in country without sending it back to Schaffhausen which will mitigate any issues with transit.

    Cheers,

    Ben

    Thanks for the advise guys.
Actually, the only reason I sent it in was that there was noticeable dust in the case and was advised that the watch needed a "full maintenance service" from IWC.
It was sent through a local AD back to Schaffhausen.

Thanks again for the advise and I will contact IWC/Local AD. I hope it does not take too long!

    Cheers.

Bendy is right. Send the watch via your AD or recognised IWC outlet to the nearest service centre. Don't let any watchmaker work on your timepiece.
    Good luck.
    Kenneth.

In a situation like this, if it is more convenient, is it possible to deal with an IWC service centre direct? Or do you need to go via the AD?

I have contacted the AD and according to their "IWC Principal", it could be due to magnetism...
Strange seeing that the mission earth is protected against magnetism!

Anyway, I will be sending it back to the AD and will see how it goes.
    Hope for the best.

    Cheers.

The procedure today is to go through an AD or Boutique.

    Hi Michael,

That seems to be country specific - in Australia the AD's I have dealt with always refer us direct to Richemont which is a process that seems to work very good in my experience.

    Cheers,

    Ben

What if, theoretically, you have had a falling out with your AD due to poor service? It can happen.
