I have a pilot double chrono and was wondering if one can change the leather strap with something a big more water proof for those active days ( maybe a bracelet or a Black soft strap)

    Thanks

    Sure you can.

I'm not sure which model you have, but most have a width between the lugs of 21mm. You can measure carefully yourself, and order a waterproof strap of the same dimensions from a third-party supplier or a bracelet from IWC. Your dealer can help.

The black rubber strap for a 3902 should fit your watch but you will have to buy a buckle too as they aren't interchangeable. Mention this to your IWC dealer when ordering.

    Hi Leo,

Just confirming...the 3902 rubber strap with "integrated end" will fit flush with 3778 case. I like that strap and find that pairing a interesting match.

    Thanks,

    Andy

    Hi Andy,
I haven't seen them offered up to each other but it's definitely on our interchangeability list along with 5009,5019 and others.
Of course these are all new models so the list may yet be revised.

    Hi Michael,

I'm looking for a summer strap myself. And I would just love it, if IWC could not online present the watch collection, but also the strap collection on this web site.

Would make things IMO much more easy, if one could have a look before going to the AD.

    Cheers

    Leo,

As always, thanks for the prompt reply. "Interchangeability List" ? WOW, that would be a great addition to the IWC site. Bavarian_Peter's post suggests a simular view. I'm sure many would appreciate looking at a watch Ref. number and viewing all the straps/bracelets available for their model. And how cool would it be to "build" your look on line? Bet many a strap would be purchased if all options could be compared.

    Michael...any thoughts?

    Thanks again Leo,

    Andy

Leo, are you saying the 3902 strap will fit neatly on the 5004/09 ? The gentleman at HK airport boutique mentioned it but I had never even considered it...but curious given the humidity here in Singapore.

    Hi Michael,
Please take my previous post as an indication of possibilities rather than gospel. This sort of info is forever being revised/updated.
I think the pilots would look fantastic on the rubber strap but make sure you 'try before you buy'.

Thanks for the feedback. I am certainly curious now more than ever but wondering how the angle of the strap from the 3902 will sit given the lugs are pretty long on the BP and I don't need the overhang. Hope it will rake down so will still fit a not huge wrist comfortably. Will let you know if I take the plunge.

Another similar question from me. I have one of these that I purchased at the IWC boutique in HK airport earlier this year. The strap is a little bit long for me and as a result the end is starting to look a little bent and shabby as I wear the watch most days.

Is a shorter version of this strap available?

Hi Fergusm, welcome to the forum.

Is yours the Standard length strap ? here are the different Big Pillot alligator strap sizes, in total four - XXS, XS, Standard, XL, which wil also fit your ref 3778, as their lug sizes are the same:

Thanks a million. This is very helpful. The dealer in Dubai insists that there is no variation and that changing this will be at my own risk!

    Thanks. C

Thanks for the info! I've ordered a strap in the smaller size (for an eye watering £380!) and should receive it next week.

I now have a nearly new black strap and a new, never used brown one, both of which are too big for me. Can anyone recommend a good place (London, San Francisco or online) where I can sell these items?
