Mr Hoa Huynh, Benjamin and the New York IWC team put on a great event for 8 lucky collectors last evening. Gentlemen traveled from near and far for an evening of great conversation, laughs, drinks, watches, drinks, sublime food, a watchmaking workshop, lab coats, drinks, and friendship. We disassembled, and rebuilt a Cal 98200 movement while engaging in friendly conversation and Q&A.

Great to see all the guys - many thanks IWC for the hospitality and experience!

I didn't see any on my iPhone - but I know Ben had a big camera there and we all posed for some group shots - perhaps they'll show up here soon.

Wonderful report Richard. I really enjoyed meeting you and the watchmaking class was really fun and informative. Thank You Hoa, Benny and Boutique for working so hard and giving us an unforgettable experience.

There was no time for a group pic because half the time we were all on our hands and knees scouring the carpet for lost screws and bridges that seemed to just launch themselves into the air for no apparant reason. I'm sure it was not the fault of the champagne!

    Gents it was a pleasure

Hoa, Benny, and the rest of the Boutique did an amazing job and we all truly appreciate it. I had the pleasure of meeting a couple of new friends for the first time, and seeing old friends once again- this is very special.

Thanks to all involved from both sides!

It was another wonderful IWC event, which they always do so well. Hoa and his team were terrific hosts, and what can we say about Bennie Hernandez? Any watchmaker who could teach this group of rogues to disassemble and reassemble a watch movement and have every watch running at the end has to be a magic man!

Seeing so many old friends and making a few new ones was of course a highlight. This is always such a treat that comes along with IWC events! I am looking forward to seeing the group shots that were taken.

I was able to visit my sister Sunday before heading home, and we had time for a little snack before I went to the airport. After the elegance of an IWC function Saturday evening, I opted for a classic New York experience. Actually, it was Jersey, but what's a little river among friends?

Corned beef and Pastrami anyone? This was their "smaller" sandwich. Note that we were careful to order DIET Dr. Brown's Cream Soda. Exit 10 for any of you Jersey boys.

Dick, good that you got to see your sister. I think that Terry and Nelson took me to that same place (judging by the size of the sandwhich and the pickles it comes with!) when we attended the opening of the boutique.

Very pleased to hear that all watches made it back into a ticking state - although I dare say (from own experience) that some budding watchmakers had more help than others.

Great report Richard, we once did something similar at Richemont/IWC Amsterdam (must have been almost 10 years ago).

Nice to see a lot of familiar faces, so thanks for sharing!

    Kind regards,

    Bob

Yes! It's a really nice 'slate' grey color - there's a special word for it, but I forget what it's called...

Definitely would like to see you soon, Nad. I was up in Old Montreal in May with a lot of family to see the circus. I will give you a shout - I should be up there again before Winter.

Richard - great photos and you did capture that Sidereal dial nicely! I had such a wonderful time; it really was so nice to get to meet in person at such an event! Hopefully we'll meet again soon - maybe in Boulder.

P.S. I hope your CFI comes back looking like new.

I'm a tad late, but it was such an enjoyable event. Hoa and his staff and the great watchmaking teacher, Bennie Hernandez, did such an outstanding job that all 8 of us felt like we were so close to building a tourbillion! (only kidding Bennie!).

Likewise Ben. I get thru Denver a few times/year - I'll make the drive to Boulder next time...

That CFI was a mess, right? Running great a but the polish was hacked by a local estate Jeweler who thought he was doing me a favor - he ran off with it before he could hear me cry "wait!! Don't!!!" And returned only 90 seconds later - with awful, smeared polish across the bracelet and bezel - it may take a miracle....
