Back home in the UK where it is even colder than Amsterdam. I have had an opportunity to read Clemen’s outstanding report of Monday’s GTG in Amsterdam and I am not going to attempt to compete. Clemens’ report and contributions others who were there really capture the mood of the evening. There was the obvious enthusiasm for IWC, friendship, humour and, at times, bumbling confusion.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mark and Clemens for organising the meeting, fellow collectors for giving up a special holiday to be there and Anna and her husband for representing IWC and bringing goody bags and most of the new collection of Ingenieurs and the Portuguese Classic Chronos.

A special thank you for Bill for pitching up in Amsterdam and providing the catalyst for the GTG and to Mark for his generosity and being the perfect host Bill, Mrs E and me.

We met Bill in Amsterdam for some sightseeing and lunch on Sunday afternoon.

On the Monday of the GTG, Mark took us to Volendam for sightseeing and lunch. The place was fascinating and sunny, if not slightly cool for the wimpish British couple.

They make and sell a lot of cheese in this part of the world.

We were several feet below sea level.

    img.photobucket.com/albums/v281/RAVE54/IWC%20GTG%20Amsterdam/DSCF6468_zps6114a348.jpg

Lunch included a table shot and a glass of the local brew.

    img.photobucket.com/albums/v281/RAVE54/IWC%20GTG%20Amsterdam/DSCF6478_zps75e5b922.jpg

Later that afternoon, the GTG got underway; over a glass or two of the local brew.

Thank you Ralph for adding these wonderful pictures. The extra shots of Amsterdam in sunny weather are great and I love the table shot with the beer & watches in the sunshine!

Great set of photos Ralph, wish I had been able to make it. What I find amazing is how small that Pt VC Ingie looks against other watches yet having tried a Trib to Italy and Laureus they are great for my wrist.

Brilliant report and photos, Ralph. I'll find it difficult to add anything when I finally get home. I concur with you, Mark was a marvelous host taking us to that quaint fishing village. The Heineken and IWC was a suitable main course for our seaside, outdoor lunch.

What I still have a chuckle on is our lunch with the Devine Mrs. E and you on our Sunday walking and watch shopping tour. You picked a very unique Dutch venue and ordered, as did we all, British fish and chips. The heavy debate was about what type of fish was batter covered and doused in vinegar.

I'm in Stockholm today after two days in Riga, LV. I'll get around to my pictures on Sunday adding to the report.

    Cheers,

We shall need to wait until Bill gets home to get to see a photo of the lovely Mrs. Rave - who by her presence kept all us men, on the straight and narrow Monday afternoon!

It was a fantastic day spent amongst friends - with great forum and watch talk.

    Come again fellows!
