Back home in the UK where it is even colder than Amsterdam. I have had an opportunity to read Clemen’s outstanding report of Monday’s GTG in Amsterdam and I am not going to attempt to compete. Clemens’ report and contributions others who were there really capture the mood of the evening. There was the obvious enthusiasm for IWC, friendship, humour and, at times, bumbling confusion.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mark and Clemens for organising the meeting, fellow collectors for giving up a special holiday to be there and Anna and her husband for representing IWC and bringing goody bags and most of the new collection of Ingenieurs and the Portuguese Classic Chronos.
A special thank you for Bill for pitching up in Amsterdam and providing the catalyst for the GTG and to Mark for his generosity and being the perfect host Bill, Mrs E and me.
We met Bill in Amsterdam for some sightseeing and lunch on Sunday afternoon.

On the Monday of the GTG, Mark took us to Volendam for sightseeing and lunch. The place was fascinating and sunny, if not slightly cool for the wimpish British couple.

They make and sell a lot of cheese in this part of the world.

We were several feet below sea level.

Lunch included a table shot and a glass of the local brew.

Later that afternoon, the GTG got underway; over a glass or two of the local brew.
