Hi there, as some of you know there usually is an Amsterdam Collectors GTG once a year that originally started with a visit of our esteemed collector Bill. Unfortunately Bill wasn't able to join us this year. We had a somewhat smaller meeting and I would like to share a few of the moments (and watches! from this event.
I usually come on my own but this year I invited my sister. She's not too much into watches so she had to borrow something from me. Since I just took delivery of my BP Perpetual Lake Tahoe which I obviously had to wear, it was fitting to have her wear the Lake Tahoe Chrono that usually can be found on the wrist of my oldest son:
The event started on Friday night with a dinner in the restaurant Rijks next to the Rijksmuseum.
We had an awesome menu:
I am not a big connoiseur of haute cuisine but this menu was excellent! Very refined with lots of delicious interesting combinations.
Besides the great dishes, there were some special watches on the table as well:
During dinner it's normal to swap around watches. The staff in the restaurant usually doesn't understand why it takes so long for everybody to finish their courses but after a frew rounds they get used to it. I managed to borrow a very special Ocean watch, it's actually the only one in the whole world:
Despite the lovely watches, the dinner was so good that we actually sometimes were all eating instead of chatting about watches!
Koen is always chasing interesting vintage watches and this time he brought a few very special pieces like this one:
As a size comparison, here it is next to the BP:
I will spare you the picture with me wearing it but it looks great on my sister:
At about ten we finished dinner and some people had to catch the train home. I took my sister to the train and went home where I enjoyed a lovely single malt Martin gave me (Glengoyne 12 years Highland malt)
This was the end of day one, I will create a separate post for the Saturday event.
Kind regards,
Clemens
