Once again, I have to thank IWC for showing me an absolutely wonderful evening. Rather than a swanky dinner party, however, this time it was one of their delightful watchmaking classes under the watchful eye of none other than Christian Bresser:
    [i114.photobucket.com/albums/n257/craniotes/Boutique%20Visit/22F67EF4-7872-4E64-8134-B755A4BB59BE_zps8e3cwkzy.jpg](s114.photobucket.com/user/craniotes/media/Boutique%20Visit/22F67EF4-7872-4E64-8134-B755A4BB59BE_zps8e3cwkzy.jpg.html)

For those of you haven't had the pleasure of making Chris' acquaintance, he is quite possibly one of the nicest -- and coolest -- people whom you will ever meet. While a consummate professional, he's not above making a joke or two, and his ready wit is always on hand to help explain a concept or assist in seating a gear properly.

After drinks downstairs, we repaired to the Siderale salon upstairs, where North American brand president, Edouard D'Arbaumont introduced Chris.
    [i114.photobucket.com/albums/n257/craniotes/Boutique%20Visit/65CDAF64-B1B0-4547-9AF5-740E8976C3E1_zpspwjhldiv.jpg](s114.photobucket.com/user/craniotes/media/Boutique%20Visit/65CDAF64-B1B0-4547-9AF5-740E8976C3E1_zpspwjhldiv.jpg.html)

Then, we donned our lab coats and sat down to the workbenches set before us.
    [i114.photobucket.com/albums/n257/craniotes/Boutique%20Visit/F53046A2-0E97-4465-9050-65D36D1D4BF6_zpstmlzewvl.jpg](s114.photobucket.com/user/craniotes/media/Boutique%20Visit/F53046A2-0E97-4465-9050-65D36D1D4BF6_zpstmlzewvl.jpg.html)

    The victim:
    [i114.photobucket.com/albums/n257/craniotes/Boutique%20Visit/B5B471B1-8DB0-4C01-A0F4-16D7B2AA559D_zpsf0mvjn2u.jpg](s114.photobucket.com/user/craniotes/media/Boutique%20Visit/B5B471B1-8DB0-4C01-A0F4-16D7B2AA559D_zpsf0mvjn2u.jpg.html)
    (Yes, that's a c.98200.)

    Disassembled:
    [i114.photobucket.com/albums/n257/craniotes/Boutique%20Visit/33169FB3-3FB9-47E4-ACC7-69C05E4FEE47_zpshksz34gs.jpg](s114.photobucket.com/user/craniotes/media/Boutique%20Visit/33169FB3-3FB9-47E4-ACC7-69C05E4FEE47_zpshksz34gs.jpg.html)

And they said all the King's horses and all the King's men... well, you know. Full circle:
    [i114.photobucket.com/albums/n257/craniotes/Boutique%20Visit/57CB7579-2F58-4143-B9A4-3793B760DD02_zpsxapjmkvd.jpg](s114.photobucket.com/user/craniotes/media/Boutique%20Visit/57CB7579-2F58-4143-B9A4-3793B760DD02_zpsxapjmkvd.jpg.html)

As a reward for all our hard work, IWC was kind enough to provide a Louis XIII tasting, which has since ruined me for all other cognac:

Needless to say, a great time was had by all, and I, for one, can't wait for the next class. Thank you, IWC!

    Regards,
    Adam

Nice report Adam. Looks like a very cool night. I was lucky enough to do one of these last year in Auckland. Highly recommended!

The London Boutique has kindly arranged their 1st such Watchmaking session next week, on their newly furbished 3rd floor for 9 other work colleagues and myself. Very much looking forward to it, with their resident Watchmaker Rob.

Looks like IWC North America has set the bar high, but I'm confident London can host a similar 'thought provoking, testing and enlightening evening'....

    Photos to follow soon.

You have certainly wet the appetite, as these watchmaking sessions are legend globally, as I first read about Abu Dhabi Boutique hosting such an event a couple of years ago and wondered when/if London could host such an event.

    Well we are nearly there.
