This is really one of the most impressive watches, I have ever had on my wrist. I have never seen before a black OCEAN with this bracelet system. Not even a hint, that this model would exists.

The PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) coating is in very good shape. I changed only the pins of the links. This case number is one of the early 90th. The reference number is: 3504.1

    • Has someone seen this model before ?

    • Any ideas, how many pieces of this model could exist ?

I would be glad to gather some more information about this rare watch.

It is really an impressive watch, with this dark black PVD coating.

As far as I know, the first watch with PVD coating was the PD by Orfina Chronograph, launched in the 70th (steel/PVD, different colors). A good chance to compare these watches (PVD/Stee to PVD/Titanium).

    Regards

    Heiko

    Very nice Hebe >>>

Are you going to keep her all original as a collector or get an SuperLuminova upgraded dial/hands, save the old dial and put her to work?

    Cheers from Isobars.

    very nice.. and ultra rare!

    Hi Heiko,
That is really a great addition to your impressive collection of rare watches. I think you can write a book on these timepieces!

Esp the way that you compose the pictures.. from every angle is just great.

I have seen this watch one time in real and I think about 4-5 times on several sites. There was one lately on eBxx but this is maybe the one you have here.

I don't know the numbers. I thought about 200 were made and these were directly delivered to Porsche design and didn't go through dealers.

Yours is from a very good quality. Most have lost more of it's PVD. I think this watch is the start of the blck / ceramic watches.

    Greetings, Martijn

An impressive BLACK PVD OCEAN 2000.

    Hi Heiko,
Congratulations and thanks for showing us this rare Ocean. For me it is one of the never revealed issues around the Oceans. It is known that the "black titanium" also exists for the Ocean 500 model. The military BUNDS never had a complete black finish. In the IWC reference books I cannot find a specicfic reference number nor an image. Is there anybody who could tell us more about the background?
    Regards,
    Adrian.

An impressive BLACK PVD OCEAN 2000.

To my knowledge this version of the black pvd ocean 2000 was produced exclusively for the Porsche Design boutique in Salzburg in the early 90's.
Beeing one of the first flagship store of pd this model was made then.
If I remember it correctly Albert Tanner told me last October (CM in SH) only a couple of hunderet pieces were made (definetly under 500pc).
    regards Jan
