Could it be a reprint?
Hi Terry,
Interesting, indeed. And, not to rain on any parade, may I ask if there is any information about the provenance of this Cinderella stamp?
It doesn't look that old; I'm wondering whether someone with a scanner and some nice software could have produced it. I would think that, regardless, it looks like something that was produced many decades after the original poster --even if it isn't an amateur's production in past decade or so. It doesn't look like anything that IWC made or sponsored, but I could be wrong.
I have produced some personal stamps with photos of my family, home, etc. They don't use glue backings nor have preforations, like yours I suppose, but I suspect some other vendor could have items with those features.
I recall that about two years ago there were a lot of "old" IWC dealers' signs for sale on German eBay. These were recently produced by some entrepeneur who had an idea that there was a market for such collectibles.
I'm not saying that yours definitely is a fake --I'm just surprised and would like to learn more about the history and provenance here.
Thanks and regards,
Michael
P.S. I've considered commissioning some Probus Scafusia temporary tattoos --really! But then I decided IWC wouldn't think they were as cute as I might.
