After a long time away from this forum I wanted to come back sharing the pics of my wife 10th anniversary present. :)

She really worked hard trying to find one of this beauties, because they are really elusive this days.

    Freddy --

Congratulations on your rattrapante --these are becoming elusive, and I would claim it is one of the most-underrated, special IWCs ever.

And congratulations on your 10th anniversary! That's great.

Your wife did a great job. Congratulations to both of you. I just passed 40 years of marital bliss. My wife owes me four IWC's. LOL

Thanks Michael, I remembered when I asked your opinion and you adviced me to go for the 5001 or the Rattrapante, now I have both of them :-)

A question for everyone, I didn't know that the 3712 is a hand wound watch, isn't based on a 7750?

Yes, with the rotor removed and becomes a 7760. It's part of the charm, and thinness, of the 3712.

Hi Freddy - double congratulations on your anniversary and the Portuguese Chrono rattrapante.

I think the 3712s have a 76240 movement which are based on the Valijoux 7760, with the information helpfully found here:

    IWC calibre 76240
    base: Valjoux 7760 + IWC Rattrapante-mechanism + IWC small-second-module
    ca. 1995 - 2005
hand winding movement with small second-indication at 6 o’clock and a Rattrapantechronograph
    Gold plated with IWC’s surface-finishing.
Decorated, assembled and regulated in Schaffhausen.
    USED IN
ref. 3712 – Portugieser Chrono Rattrapante

    Great watch and great wife.

Bill, those four watches your wife "owes" you, should of course be applicable to each of the decades, best of luck trying to persuade/encourage her. Alternatively she could start saving and present you with the Siderale for your 50th!
