It was on my top 10 list...

... for most collectable IWC watches and indeed a beauty in and by itself.

    Regards

The first watch I fell in love with before.....

I knew anything about watches or IWC. Wish I had one in platinum.

P.S. Please stop posting about these overlooked...

watches. You will influence the market and drive up prices. This is being said in a good natured but serious manner. I believe posts like this do affect the market.

    a two-edged sword?

    Hi motodoc,

I recall, back before this forum, that I was preparing what I think was the first article, ever, on the history of the Ingenieur. I mentioned that to a Swiss private dealer and he said that the market would rise after publication. I was surprised when he started to accumulate inventory. But he was right. Shortly before the article I had bought a ref. 866 Ingenieur for about 2800 USD in London, but right afterwards they zoomed in price.

But that is a plus and a minus, For those who already owned a 866 Ingenieur they ended up ahead of the game, Of course, non-owners ended up paying more,. But even if it would cost prospective purchasers more, if that value is legitimatized and maintained, maybe that's not bad either, And they learned to buy something they had overlooked before.

    Regards,
    Michael
P.S. I am a great proponent of the JLC Geomatic, It is every bit the equal of the Ingenieur but often sells at close to half the price of its IWC cousin., No one is writing articles extolling the Geomatic. A mistake, but I won't be that guy --I'm an IWC evangelist.

I'm a firm believer in free and efficient markets

An absolutely essential condition for a market to be free and efficient is that all market participants have equal access to relevant information.

    Write on, Michael!

    a two-edged sword?

It's uncanny, Michael, but in this post you have referred to my top 3 dream watches; original Ing., Geomatic and Novecento. Of the 3, the Geomatic seems to be the hardest to find, especially in good condition. I hadn't realized that you were responsible for the high value of the Ing's!

My next bonus (if I get one!) will be put towards one of these 3, or possibly a Wal bass!

    Thanks for a great thread,

    HG.

    The Platinum cased version

is to me one of the best looking perpetual calendars, ever.

Perhaps it is a sleeper because many have missed the seconds hand on this model - which to me is why it looks so clean and is so legible ... and of course, thankfully no chronograph hands or dials.

    Greetings from Singapore, Dirk
