I recently purchased the Ingenieur with the ceramic bezel and display back. I recognize that it does not have the soft iron inner case, but was wondering if it has any antimagnetic properties whatsoever. If so, how is it rated? I don't expect the 80,000 A/m of the other models but want to see how it stacks up to the other models. Should I feel as secure in this watches antimagnetic properties as the other Ingenieurs?

    not a lot...

    Hi SD,

I don't have the numbers but in general all modern watches have some antimagnetic properties due to the metals used and as a practical matter. If I recall when either the ladies' pilot watch or ladies' Ingenieur came out, there was a report on the forum that the watch, even without a Faraday amagnetic inner cage, had some resistance to magnetism --probably like to 3,000 A/m.

I'm not sure what the display back does relative to magnetism, but I would assume your watch isn't really antimagetic, any more than any other modern watch. It certainly won't stack up the same as the "regular" Ingenieur Automatic, ref. 3227.

    Regards,
