    I have read here

    www.time2watch.net/IWCintro.htm

that IWC use a special treatment on their 3536 titanium. is this correct and does this make this watch more scratch resistant than the ss version ?

lots of info on titanium in archived posts

    Hi Michiel,

The article that you referenced is incorrect on the citation to Mycroft's article. Mycroft, a great guy with lots of knowledge, was misinformed about IWC's titanium. Unfortunately he wrote an article for a website and since there was no who knew otherwise, the information became urban myth.

In the early years of the forum this was discussed extensively, and technical data was furnished by IWC. You'll be able to find that, I'm sure, with a search of archived posts.

That said, bottom line is that IWC uses a high grade of titanium but except for a few bezels on some Porsche Design models it doesn't have special non-abrasive qualities. And technically it is more scratch-prone than steel --but the scratches don't show as much on account of the non-polished, non-reflective surface.

    Regards,
    Michael
