    Hi everyone,

An opportunity has come up to acquire an Aquatimer 3719-2 in Titanium on rubber strap. I know this isn't a limited edition or anything but, like all great designs, it seems to be getting better and better with age.

I once owned an Aquatimer 2000 (3538-03) which I loved and kind of wish I hadn't moved on. What are everyone's thoughts on this classic chrono? Should I take the plunge (pardon the pun)?

    All best,
    Doug

I recommend you purchase the watch. It really is a great design - even the GSTs (particularly the perpetual calendars) have really been growing on me lately.

Without any doubt, go for it - that classic divers chrono in titanium with yellow details is super cool. And I think it even looks better with the rubber strap than with a bracelet.

    Go for it!

Hi Doug, I think it's a great watch and, like you, I feel attracted mainly to 'older' design. Although IWC clearly found their way back with this year's Pilot range!

You could even consider sourcing the original Ti bracelet, you will love that!!!

    Best,

    Bob

    Doug,

My advice is to go with your heart. If you want it, get it.

It is one of my favorite IWC's at all time.

I'm for the steel version - just bought a pre-loved one. Me thinks that both look way better and are more comfy on the metal bracelet. Just my USD .02 of course. Best,
    Robert

    Hello Doug,

although i don't have the titanium version, i can write up about it's Steel brother. Now i have that model for some time now (i believe 4'th year) and up til now, i really like it.

First of all, i think it represents all about IWC sport models. It have a very understated and 'under the radar' look, and it feels like a type of watch a diver would wear on his wrist. It has no polished surfaces so it's not flashy and case size is just about right no matter what size you are.

There is't much to say about it's movement, the ETA 7750 is very famous for being the work horse. I had zero issues with mine, just keep it checked up every 5 years, new oils and you are good to go.

Visually i like it because there are just so little chrono dive watches with inner bezels and that bottom pusher witch is different from the top one just gives that tool'ish look witch I'm after.
Now i know that everyone will suggest to go for the metal bracelet. I will to, but only for resale reasons.

Now for some reason, my hand just isn't a on a good term with that bracelet. It has beautiful look and feel but boy it's uncomfortable. And by uncomfortable, i mean it has a tendency for pulling hair like no other bracelet I had. I had even constructed the system witch i would wear the watch for two week until the bracelet pulled out all the extra hair on my hand so that the next 2-4 weeks would be ok.
But don't be alarmed, every single person witch has that watch says that the bracelet is fantastic, just my hand is a little special :)

By all means, go for it. I will get that titanium version one day, no matter what!

Thanks for all the great responses! I had to make a decision fairly quickly or risk losing out, so in the end the heart won (doesn't it always!) and I'm justifying this as an early Christmas present to myself ;-)

Here she is, literally just arrived:

Congrats, wear it in good health!
NONO01 has written a nice review - I have to disagree on one point: with my (hairy...) wrist I do not feel the bracelet pulling hair, I find it very comfy. I miss a tad better lume (without my glasses it is a border-line regarding legibility after a few hours of darkness. And a quick micro adjust clasp is missing from the steel bracelet but that's all.
    Best,
    Robert
