    Hi All,

I've just recently purchased an Aquatimer Automatic in Steel (brand new from a IWC dealer, got a great deal due to dealer making way for new version)) and cant find much info about it! All information seems to be about the '2000!' I think this watch was first introduced about 2005 but does anyone else own one of these ? Can anyone give me some information? Any opinions on there performance/durability?

I find the rubber strap makes my wrist sweat is this common? Has anyone else experienced this? I have been told I can order a steel bracelet but this must come from Switzerland, however it costs 900 GBP and I would have liked to see one first before deciding, is this correct or are they stock items in the UK?

This watch is my introduction to IWC - previously owned Rolex Explorer 2 and Brietling Colt & Superoceans, how does the IWC compare to say Superoceans and Rolex Submariners for build quality, accuracy and value for money?

Your opinions/comments would be much appreciated

    Regards

    Dave

The "old" Aquatimer Automatic is a great watch, in my opinion. With the white bezel instead of the yellow it is less flashy, it is even a bit dressy. I saw some wonderful pictures of it. The bracelet is great too, worth its money. I have this kind of bracelet on my Ingenieur (though titanium and not steel). Some people think the bracelet is cooler to the touch than the rubber strap. I would go for the bracelet. I personally don't like rubber straps, but that is based on the looks. If they wear uncomfortably too, I just don't see the point of rubber straps.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

I also just bought an Aquatimer 1000m (model 3548) from a dealer clearing out old stock. It came on the steel bracelet and they threw in the rubber strap. It is a very nice watch and I'm having a hard time deciding if it's a dressy watch or one I can abuse a little. It's all sleek angles and perfect brushed steel, but for the polished dial markers.

The rubber strap really flows into the case and the black provides some nice contrast to the steel. However, the bracelet is also excellent, my only complaints being that it lacks a dive extension and a double-pushbutton clasp. But for dress duty, it's the way to go, and it's very comfortable in hot weather.

I had a 3568, new Aquatimer 2000, with the rubber strap and yellow accents. Lovely piece as well. I can't decide which I like better. Both have that engineered look that I love about IWC.

    Here's my latest:
