I just bought my dream watch. Previously had a Rolex date and a Sea Dweller but I think - for me - this is the ultimate.

    Anyone advice, thoughts worth sharing?

Why do you like it so much? is it because it is entirely in black and coated with rubber? Please share your thoughts.

Since you are previously a Rolex fan (may I assume so?), how do you settle for just rubber strap?

I like the Galapagos Islands edition... but since the new aquatimer series come with a bracelet-quick-change system, yet there doesn't seem to be a bracelet worth changing into for the GI edition... doesn't that spoil the fun a little?

I like the look and feel of the Galapagos case, it is very special to touch it. A fitting bracelet would be great, until now rubber straps have put me off: I don't like the looks of them. I read some comments about the comfort of wear, like warm and sweaty, but of course I cannot confirm this, nor does everybody share this experience. All in all I think it is a nice sporty watch.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

I have the Galapagos since early this year. Worn it a lot since then and it grows on me. I agree that the quick change system is a limitation. Apart from the rubber strap there is AT steel bracelet but I do not think it goes well with the black rubber. Leather same thing (if there is a leather strap with quick change). I believe there is a longer rubber strap or long welco strap to be used outside a wetsuit. A black steel bracelet or steel mesh would be nice, though its durability woudl depend on how its made black.
Rubber strap is not an issue on warm&humid summer days. Also leather and steel is not so nice when you start sweating and a leather strap would actually be damaged in the long run if it absorbs too much sweat.

All thanks for your words of wisdom.

    I will post pics ASAP.

Had the watch a couple of weeks now. Love it. I was looking for a rubber strap watch and considered a Bremont but always been a fan of IWC so when I came across the Galapagos I was converted immediately.

Reason for rubber strap is I dive and am a regular swimmer so leather not really an option and I needed a change from metal.

Case is really unique. Love the first strap clasp anchor points. Great watch. Only thing that I can fault is secondary strap clasp. I find it always moves and often slips off so not holding the strap.

    Thanks again,
    Chris
