Just curious as to the forums view on this piece - it is the bottom of the dial around the "swiss made" that has me a little concerned - any thoughts as I am looking at buying this one.

I can only see a photo of the back of the watch. Can you repost with a photo of the dial.

Is the reference correct for the gold case?

    Hi Todd

I was hoping to add pics but the post didn't come up on the forum for a while after I accidently hit the post button prior to getting the other two up.

    Here goes

WatchJunkie - good point. If you do an internet search, the 356303 is stainless steel.

Richard, i've looked up 3563 Portofinos and none have the 2 shorter minute markers like they are shown in your photo. I've also looked up Portofinos pre 2007. The references with 3533 also don't have minute markers like that. I did find replicas that had those minute markers above 'Swiss made.'

Perhaps there are others here that have more info.

The strap and box does not look to bad, maybe something that was dressed up for the sale? I'm no Portofino expert though.

Here's an authentic one for comparison purposes! I just happen to be wearing it today.

It looks authentic to me, just based on these photos.

What makes you think it's an IW356303? Nothing you've written nor shown seem to show that.

Looks like a midsize Portofino. Ref. 356403

Thank you for all the comments - I asked a couple of straightforward questions of the owner ahead of receiving the forums input and it disappeared from sale very quickly. Maybe just a coincidence.

In answer to Michael's query, the ref number came from the owners description but the double small ticks at "6" were what I wasn't sure about, though Vahalis's workbook reference seems to clear that up and the incorrect ref number I was using.

Its a shame it "disappeared" as I quite fancied it for my wife.

As always - the IWC forum "rules" (as my kids would say) with its advice!

    Regards

    Richard
