What I forgot to mention in my earlier comment - also in favour of the ref 5001 - is the inhouse movement.
An inhouse engine would be very important to me when buying a new IWC.

Portuguese Chronograph for me ! And of course, biased opinion since I have a wonderful 371446... 371445 would be my second choice !
I am confused why you are getting suggestions for a 5001 when it wasn't pasrt of the three proposals you sought feedback on.
For readability the white dial is better than the black dial at all times of day - including low light in the evening. If you like to view the day and date go for the new Portofino chrono - being the only owner of a watch has a slightly different feeling !
Good luck.
Do a search for "Pure classic" in the magnifying glass "loupe" and you will get lots more information and reports from owners here.
When I was in a similar situation, a very wise man on this forum gave me very good advice. He said not to settle for the watch you can afford now because it's more expensive in the long run.
I am assuming you meant to say "settle for the watch you can afford now because it's more expensive in the long run."
Following something along this line, I'm more and more sure I'll be going for the chronograph, white face.
Cheers,
J
p.s. I'll post lots of photos!
Sorry I wasn't clear. The idea is this: let's say that you are considering two watches, one more expensive than the other. You really want the more expensive watch but at the moment it is slightly beyond reach. You,like the less expensive watch and can afford it now. So you buy the less expensive one. The problem is that you really wanted the more expensive one and continue to lust after it. Eventually you have to buy it. So now you've spent more than if you had bought the more expensive watch to begin with so buying the one you really want, rather than settling for the one you can afford, may be the better financial move.
Obviously, I don't know if this applies in your case but it's worth thinking about. It certainly saved me from making a misstep.
Hello everybody - my first post in this forum !
I've got both, port chrono and port auto. I've started my IWC adventure with the Chrono 3 years ago and then bought this year 2 autos, one of which is the same replica as the Chrono (metal, strap color and dial). I love both, design and elegance, but i have to admit that i found the auto more complete....dońt forget the back. I love removing the watch and looking at the back: what a beautiful movement !
So for me the auto 7 days.
Bye
Krom

Made a decision, and I'm really pleased :)
