This may have been discussed before but I can't find the answer in previous posts. So...
If you send your Big Pilot (5004)in for service on the crown stem do you get the new winding assembly installed, the one used for the new 5009?

Alan -
I was wondering the same thing about the BP 5004.
Also, the same question for a fish crown or probus crown BP 5002 sent in for repair.
I don't know about the 5004 > 5009 conversion, but if you send in a fish crown 5002 to IWC, the crown will be replaced with the Probus crown.
re: the fish crown - i've heard several conflicting reports about whether one can even get the fish crown back. there are examples out there about explicit written requests to not replace or to at least return the fish crown... but neither happens. bill, looks like they at least returned the fish crown to you when you had a service?
like some other forummers, i'm probably going to pass on sending the 5002 to the official iwc spa for fear of never seeing the fish again!
best,
thang

Alan --not to my knowledge. IWC won't convert a 5004 reference to a 5009 as far as I know. That's different than changing the crown of a 5002 to a different one used on the 5002.
