Does anyone know how I can get a set of instructions for a 2004 Big Pilot. I have been looking to get a BP for a couple of years after owning a Portuguese Chrono and finally picked up a perfect used example this week which had box, Warranty booklet and card, service history and even the cleaning cloth but no instructions.

I think I need them as I am not sure I know how to set the date if I let it stop?

Unfortunately I do not know where you will get a manual for your watch however it is equipped with a 7 day movement so you shouldn't be too worried about it stopping, if it does, call a doctor!

The date setting is pretty straight forward - unscrew the crown and pull out to the first position and wind (clockwise I think) to bring the date forward - not sure what the time rules are but I there is a certain window early in the morning where you shouldn't adjust the date - I usually bring the crown out to the second stop, move the time forward a full day and then to around 5am and then adjust the date from there.

    Cheers,

    Ben

CDAVIES2, welcome to the Forum and congratulations on your great watch. Do not use the fast date change between the hours of 10.00 PM (22:00 hours) and 2.00 AM (02:00 hours), as the automatic date change gears come into operation between those times and the gears can be damaged if the fast date change is used. Some Forummers may recommend not using the fast date change between 8 PM and 4 AM just to make sure. If in doubt, just change the date by winding the hour and minute hands forwards until you arrive at the required date. Never wind the hands backwards.

I would recommend you to contact IWC via this forum (see the CONTACT link at the top of the webpage)
I did that and informed IWC I needed the replacement manual (lost mine while moving house).

After a few weeks, IWC Singapore contacted me via email to confirm on my request.
They mentioned they needed my watch serial number for authentication, and gave me 2 choices: free online download, or send me a hardcopy (USD30).

I went ahead with the hardcopy option.

By the way, mine is a Mark XVI Pilot.
