Hi all… Merry Christmas!! Got my Big Pilot a few days ago… and what a gorgeous watch! My question is regarding overwinding protection. My JLC RG GMT has a "clutch" to protect from overwinding… does the Big Pilot got some type of mechanism to protect form overwinding?

    Thanks in advance

    Bruce

    Welcome Bruce.

All automatic watches have a clutch to prevent overwinding. Otherwise, simple wrist motion could cause the watch to overwind. So your Big Pilot definitely does have a clutch.

Thanks Michael… sorry… i should have been more descriptive… I meant overwinding protection when I manually wind to the max. Hope it makes sense…

Hi Bruce, that clutch is in the drive train, so whether it's manual winding or automatic it will always kick in. 'Full is full' ;-)

whilst others have correctly stated that your big pilot has a clutch, which releases the winding mechanism, thus, offering protection from overwinding,it's also worth noting, that the BP model has a particularly large crown.it's important to pay attention to this when winding the crown in it's final seating position.there have been cases with the earlier model BP crowns coming adrift from the watch case because of overtightening.the new models have been modified to overcome this problem.however the caveat remains:seat the crown judiciously to avoid damage.
    regards.
    kenneth.
