I own the big pilot perpetual Antoine de saint exupery edition. A few days ago I made a big mistake and overshot the date by about 3 weeks.
My question is if I should just wait until the watch runs out of energy, which would be in 7 days, or if I should pull the crown which would stop the watch now.

I would suggest just let the watch run out of energy and wait for another 2 weeks.

    Cheers,

If you let it run, you still will be 3 weeks ahead when it runs down. So it depends on your patience, I believe you do not harm the watch by stopping it now.

    Thanks for the comments.

So do you think it is mechanically fine to leave the crown pulled out?

I don't think it would do any harm to pull out the crown and leave the watch in suspended animation until the rest of us catch it up.

. Exactly. I've had to do it a couple of times myself.

Pull out the crown and wait. No problem in doing this. I did exactly the same but mine was only a couple of days.

    Hi everyone,

I started using the watch since the date caught up. However I noticed that something is wrong with the perpetual calendar. The year and month and date are correct but the day is wrong. For example today the watch shows: January 7 2013, TUESDAY but it's Monday today. It never did that before. What do you think it might be? What can I do? Thanks.

When you moved the date ahead several weeks you might have done so with the watch close to midnight. Or you tried going backwards. This will screw up the movement. My guess is that it needs to be sent in for service.
