When I was at the boutique last week to pickup a strap, Jan was kind enough to bring out some wonderful playthings. First up was a Mystère Tourbillon Retrograde. I could watch the tourbillon for quite some time (in fact, I did) and the retrograde date was a lot of fun to play with. Next came a skeletonized beauty, the movement wonderfully decorated. I don't think I could wear that watch but I enjoyed studying the movement with a loupe.
Next up, a Pure Classic. I had never before appreciated how thin it is. A very nice watch and one that I would very happily wear. This was followed by a Vintage Collection Portuguese. I like this watch much more in the metal than in photos. And finally, the latest tribute to St. Expury, in steel with tobacco dial. That one really grabbed me. For me, it would be difficult to choose between that and the 3878. Of course, there are a great many similarities.
Big thanks to the boutique staff -- and Jan in particular -- for the wonderful treatment.
