Calibre 59210 - is it equipped with a clutch to prevent overwind?

Hi all,

I apologize if this has been discussed before. Does anyone know if the hand-wound calibre 59210 has a safety clutch to prevent damage to the mainspring, similar to conventional automatic movement?

With the power reserve indicator, i have always stopped winding when it reaches 8 days reserve on my Portofino. Just this morning, i was enjoying the view from my room a little too much while winding and expecting to feel some resistance before stopping, but instead i heard a click. Now that I'm trying to recall, after owning this for a year, I've never felt the similar resistence as the 98 calibre, always stopped when the power reserve reaches full.

It's been 12 hours now, and the watch is still working normally, and power indication depletion seems proportionate.

Hand wound watches do not have a clutch. Winding clockwise will stop when the mainspring is charged. Automatic movements have a clutch to prevent overwinding.

Thanks Bill, I now wonder if I had accidentally damaged it. The crown just won't stop turning, with not much of resistance to stop. Everything else is working fine though.
