Hello IWC people. A friend of mine found this at a deceased relatives house recently and asked me if I could provide any details of this time piece to him. We are not looking for a value, just some type of information as to how old it might be and possibly details to how rare it could be. Thank you all in advance for any information you can provide.

The movement is a Cal 44

manufactured between 1959 and 1970 (it was IWCs first automatic for womens watches). If you post the movement number, you can just see it under the balance, someone will be able to provide an exact date of manufacture. My guess is late 1960's to early 1970's.

Womens watches are harder to identify (and are less collectable) than mens watches but I think it could be a Reference 5017 as shown above. The crown is different but IWC did use that style of crown on other watches in the 1970's or it may be a replacement.

Please post the movement number for a more exact production date.

    Cheers from the cellar
