    Hi All

First post here from sunny Cornwall in the UK, on a watch I recently obtained.imageshack.com/a/img922/3701/JbaPqt.jpgimageshack.com/a/img921/6682/CS9UVi.jpgI think its a Ref: 3279 although the IWC letters are painted not raised letters and appear directly above the "International watch Co" unlike the only reference I've found online at www.gregsteer.net/IWC/Collection/Collection_1980.html which shows a gap between the IWC and the rest of the text. It has the slightly later Cal. 3258 mechanism implying that its 1984 onwards.

Does anyone have further information on the watch? What were the production dates? how many were produced? do you know which catalogue would have the watch in it?

Personally, I love it but there is so little information on it I guess that I must be in a minority or is it just a rarity?

Any comments or insights you have would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,

    Neil

Did I post this in the wrong place? Is there little activity on the forum? Is there no interest in these "lesser" models?

Hi Neil, I have had such model in my collection. A photo is attached.

A typical design of the mid seventies with a fantastic JLC based manufacture movement.

A special feature of this watch is the bayonet lock of the case back.

Only very few models have that.

You have posted on right place, but not many vintage collectors are remaining on the forum, due to life style topics are dominating too much ?!

    The calibre is a c.3258.
There was a before the +/- identical c.3254 without the fine reguator and some small changes done for the newer version.

The movement was used in the 70's to substitute the inhous movement c.8541B, which probably was too thick (5.9 with date ,c.854 without date h=4.8mm)

    c.325x height = 3.25 mm (with/without date and with/without center second)
    without fine regulator:
    c.3251 (no date, no seconds)
    c.3252 (date, no seconds)
    c.3253 (no date, center seconds)
    c.3254 (date, center second)

    With fine regulator

    c.3256 (date, no seconds)
    c.3258 (date, center second)

(the c.3255 and c.3257 withour date most probably does not exist)

    regards
