Hello,
I ordered a new Pilot Chronograph Petit Prince edition through Chrono24 at a dealer in Italy. I ordered it via trusted checkout, meaning I still have a week to return the watch if I don't like it for some reason.
Yesterday, I decided to go to my local IWC boutique in to verify if everything was 100% genuine, just to be sure. I had no doubts before I went there as every single detail that makes this watch so beautiful seems to match.
Unfortunately, the employees at the IWC boutique immediately said, before I showed them the watch, that they are not allowed to give their opinion as to whether the watch is real or fake. Due to the high quality of fake watches only the watchmakers in Schaffhausen are allowed to do so. All they could do was check the case number in their system to see if it was recognized as the Pilot Chronograph Petit Prince. They use this system to identify watches in case they need to order parts for a specific model. It turned out that the case number on my watch was unknown in the system. According to the IWC empolyees at the boutique, every watch that is produced by IWC is added to the database and should be found, regardless of which country it is sold in.
I am now seriously in doubt what to do. Could there be another reason why the case number can't be reconized, apart from it being fake? Is this a big enough argument for me to send the watch back to the dealer? I have a week left to send it back. Below are some pictures of the watch. I would appreciate any help you can give!
P.s. the watch was delivered with box, papers, warranty, everything.
