Interesting: it´s not that long ago that diameters, styles and as well the prices for perpetual calendars had been completely different than today …
    - this is the watch of a friend of mine on my wrist - IW 3758-03. I think IWC stopped the production 2007.
Does it look old? Or do you guys think it has a timeless appearance? For me it hasn´t got the attraction like the Portuguese PPC´s from that time - but nevertheless even the Portuguese Perp. Cellini seems to be a little bit "old school" for me, - just a matter of fashion?

It is a great watch, and the fact that you do not get one easily for a reasonable price on the second hand market speaks for itself. Probably one of the last real classics of modern IWC times. Stunning, rare (without artificial limitation) and beautiful. Enjoy!!

I think it is pretty timeless, although it shows it s from another era. The dial is really great and will fit older as well as newer watches. The hands are the same in the modern da Vinci's i think ?.
If anything is not modern i would say it is the hinged lugs ? The Cellini is a great PC too, but maybe more out of fashion because of the domed crystel from the 5000 series and black dial. But i like that domed feature as well as the dial lay out.

    Hi Christian
Great topic! I think it is an interesting design indeed! On the one hand, it can be said that is a little dated but on the other, it is completely timeless and I think it will stand the test of time and retain the accolade of "A Classic"

I love this design sketch showing the inspiration taken from Leonardo Da Vinci's design for a fortress. I also think the hinged lugs represent Leonardo's articulated machines.

    Hi Christian

Interesting topic as well as very nice pictures. I think when talking about design it comes always to the individual perception, which is good, IMHO!
The IW 3758-03 appeares to my eyes definitely timeless. To me even the hinged lugs fits perfect to the overall design of the watch.

    Cheers Chris

Christian, I personally think it is a timeless beauty. To my eyes at least, I don't think it is dated. And it is definitely one on my long term list to add to my collection. Love that sketch that Mark posted.

    Cheers,
