I scratched the case of my Dopplechronograph. I went to the IWC Service Center in Milan to get it repaired. They said that they could not intervene without opening the watch and, once opened, it is compulsory to do a full revisions (sic!). Result: the scratch didn't come off as they said it is too deep and I paid €500 for the full revision (that was not needed). Two questions to the forum:

    1) was I treated fairly?

    2) where can I find a spare case to replace the damaged one?

    Thanks all.

    Enrico

The answer to your questions is, unfortunately, I don't know. Service issues and problems aren't supposed to be forum topics. We can't assess what was needed via electronic description, and we sometimes only hear one side of the story, sometimes with conclusions stated as facts.

I'm not saying you're relaying this incorrectly, but I just can't evaluate the situation. Also, replacement cases are virtually non-existent (some watchmakers can make new ones, but they look different and are costly). My best suggestion is to send the watch to Schaffhausen directly, telling them what happened.

    Good luck.

Many thanks Michael, fair answer. Incidentally, do you know what is the procedure for sending the watch to Schaffhausen?

    Thanks,

    Enrico

You can send it insured, on the attention of service, to:

    IWC Schaffhausen
    Branch of Richemont International SA
    Baumgartenstrasse 15
    CH-8201 Schaffhausen
    Switzerland
    Tel. +41 (0)52 635 65 65

You can see if an authorized dealervwill send it for you, rather than to Italy's service centre. If you have questions call IWC.

    Good luck.
