VC Inge would be my pick as well!

    Hi David,

If you must, would you rather have a headache or a heartache? :)

    Cheers, Jack

Great line, Jack, and a good perspective on the decision to be made. And now that I've made it, I opted for the headache. Andy just informed me that I'll buy the Inge in about 6 months. :) They may not be all that hard to find then.

    Thanks all for the congratulations.

Great stuff David. Glad you went for it.

    Here's me loving the 5001-09 too :)

Well, I also won't go with the crowd. Your head should tell you the 5001 is a better watch --better movement, more interesting, more consistent with IWC tradition (the Ingenieur would be, but for the lack of magnetic shielding), and more representative of IWC. And I don't view the Ingenieur as really scarce or more collectible (not that such should be a criterion).

This is not to diss the Inge. I like it, a lot. But I like the Portuguese more. If I have a choice between 2 watches, I also prefer the one with the better movement design and more craft. So if your head is in the right place, it aligns with your heart --get the 5001.

Sorry to disagree with so many esteemed forum members ;)

Thanks Michael. I wasn't concerned with collectibility. My thinking was that the Inge could become hard to find when production ends. I agree with your analysis and did choose the 5001. So excited...

Shing - just perfect. Your list kept me busy a good bit of Thursday. :)

Clemens - I think you can be forgiven for changing from the 5001 to the PPC.

David - when I doubt always choose a Portuguese - I'm glad to see you made the "right" choice, congrats!

    David,

No right or wrong here. Your heart has the capability to love both models at the same time, equally. Consider them like your children. How can you love one more than the other?

I have no doubt the VC-Inge will become part of your growing family in the near future.

The variation you chose is stunning. Can't wait to see what strap/s you pair with that beauty.

Enjoy with health and much happiness,

    Andy

BTW, don't forget to thank the wife...your biggest fan and supporter !
