I have two deployants. There are some small differences between the two. The biggest is the Swiss made inscription on the inside. One seems to be upside down. Anyone knows why?

One is for left handers and the other right handers thus ensuring the inscription is always upright.

    Cheers from the cellar

Thanks, but it makes no sense to me. It is just the Swiss made inscription and can't be seen when the clasp is closed.

    Now that's attention to detail.

Are the marks engraved or are they struck? If the latter may be just how the die punch was placed.

Most likely they are made by 2 different manufacturers for IWC or they are part of 2 different production runs that used a different process.

There are a number of variations out there. The clasp on my 5001 is different to the one on my 3799 - even though they both look the same externally as far as finish, size and IWC engraving goes. I have had 2 on the 3799 and they have been different also (IWC swapped one out when it went in for a service).

I have seen differences with the text and symbols / logos printed on them and also differences in the recess to access the spring - the clasp on my 5001 has recesses on both sides so you can access the spring from either side whilst both the clasps on my 3799 have had only 1 recess as per your photos.

The devil is in the detail.

@ Greg and Bendy: could well be struck, I'm not sure. And it could well be two different manufacturers.

    Thanks.

But of course it is....attention to detail separates IWC addicts from others.

Here is a pic of the clasp on my 5001 - note the totally different inscriptions (not just upside down) and the 2 spring access recesses as opposed to the single on both of yours.

I am sure there will be a few more variant out there as well.

Does anyone know how to change the strap on a BP watch?
