I am contemplating to get my first IWC, a mint Portofino Chronograph IW378303. However, after reading up about the watch, I discovered that the model is discontinued. I will to seek your opinion what are the pros and cons of getting a discontinued model?
Reksgwee, all Pro's and no Con's...other than it will become increasingly difficult to find.
As long as you procure via an AD (authorised distributer) or IWC Boutique the watch will come with its normal warranty and for sure, IWC provide the same high level of service on current shipping released watches as on those of yesteryear.
In fact, this forum is full of wonderful stories of 50 year, 70 year or even 100+ year old IWC pieces going to Schaffhuasen for service, and coming back to their owners looking and working like the day they originally left the factory!
If you like the watch, and you can locate one... Go ahead and secure it! You wont regret it.
oh...I almost forgot it. There is one Con related to this (which has no connection to the actual model), and that is prepare yourself for a healthy dose of Ubervirus!
