    Hi all,

It's been awhile since we were first fascinated by the FA Jones and although we have purchased a few watches in between, the FA Junes has always alluded us for one reason or another.

I now have the opportunity to buy a new FA Jones in platinum for hubby and I think the time is right :)

Hoping you guys can help me with a few questions:

    1. Does the platinum buckle on the FA Jones have PT, a model number or something similar inscribed on it to identify it and if yes, where is it on the buckle?

2.Is the strap any different from the std portuguese?

    1. When did this watch stop production?

    2. Any advice on this watch in general.

    Thanks in advance,

    Julie

    HI Alpsy,

Without checking I can't answer all your questions, but quickly:

    1. the platinum buckle of my Portofino (not FA Jones) has hallmarks and numbers on the inside of the top part of the buckle. I suspect all platin um products are and required as such by Swiss law.

    2. regular strap --nothing special for the platinum model

    3. not exactly sure, since production differs from catalog inclusion. I would guess 2006.

None --it's really a very nice watch.

    Go for it ;)

I fell in love with the Jones when they were first announced, and ordered pieces in SS and RG before they even debuted at the show in Switzerland. I didn't order the Platinum, which I thought and still think is the best looking of the three, only because of price.

Great watches. And it sounds like hubby has a great wife!

    Thanks guys,

Didn't have a close look at the buckle but assuming that it should have either "PT" or the model number (IWA05839) incribed on it somewhere.

Yes, the watch does look spectacular and I was suprised to find a new one still in stock at a boutique. It comes down to the Jones or the regulateur but it's the Jones that really draws me and it think it will look very smart on my man.

If you guys have any advice or comments about this watch please let me know ... I need reassurance :)

Will let you all know how I go.

    Thanks,
    Julie

    Julie,

Precious metals commonly use a hallmark signifying the metal. For platinum you should see the hallmark shown below or at least the "950". Here is an explanation of the 950 and a common hallmark that should be stamped into the watch case and buckle:

    Thanks Bill,

    Will look for the 950.

Sure it will be ok just want to be sure.

If anyone has a platinum buckle and can post a pic, it would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Julie
