Hi - I am considering purchasing the IWC Mark XV listed on eBay. I posted to Reddit (another forum) asking if anyone has heard of the AR coating being removed due to wear, and in response, someone pointed out that this watch may by fake due to "the sloppy 3, 6, and 9 o'clock marker lume application, seconds hand dirt and very uneven date wheel." I am new to IWC and watches in general, so any guidance is much appreciated before I bid on this one! Thank you.

sorry that I had to edit here, as this forum is strictly non commercial, links to auctions are not allowed.
That said, the advice Bob gave is perfect.

Hi, it looks real to me. Marker lume sloppy: don't recognize that / seconds hand dirt: hard to judge but't I'd say it's on the crystal (outside) / date wheel uneven: don't see that at all?!?

I must admit that the seller's quote "The front AR coating was removed due to partial wear" is really strange? Why all the effort to do that if a new crystal only costs 100 euro or so?

Moreover, I would't buy without box & papers, whatever they say the reason is. Your second/third hand value will also be hundreds of euros less if you ever want to sell it, compared to a 'full set'.

Anyway, if you don't trust it DON'T buy it!

    Best,

    Bob
