Michael wrote a new article about the Portugiesers, in fact, about 5 of them,
you can find it here
Enjoy the read.
And what is your choice ?

My first choice would be a 5441- you get very good value for money.
Greetings Martin
A fun and thoughtful article: and of course, the question arises: what would I put on my list?
Of course, the 325 is iconic, important, and special.
The Jubilee? What can be said? So important, so seminal.
But really, honestly, what could go wrong with any of these?
Nelson
I second that emotion.
Thanks Michael.
Although I’m more into ATs,
My choice would be the Jubilee Portuguese, reference 5441(!)
But who knows... Perhaps when I grow up, I’ll get one.
Thx for the post MF (and Tonny for sharing)
Yours sincerely
Having a 5022 I am a bit prejudiced, but on my wish list is the Gold Jubilee. Thanks Michael for making the juices flow for the readers.
Thanks Michael for a wonderful articel about THE line of IWC in my opinion.
It is really hard to choose and I can understand very much Michaels choices.
Mine so far are:
5454, 3714, 3902, 3904 all of them at least mentioned by Michael ;)
On the wishlist -and the only slight difference to Michaels opinion- 5034
so the double moon as the first PPC in a portugiese watch, instead of the single moon.
Best regards, Markus
Thank You Michael for a thoughtful and interesting article!
My favourite Portuguese models are 5102 and I nearly got one some years ago but VC Ingenieur Laureus won in the end.
The other is 5001/5007 and this is high on my current list.
Great text and perfect choice of Michael! No need to add or to exclude something!
Good read, and I can't argue with the selection, although having so many other things to spend my money on, I have settled on somewhat more economical collection:
I love both 325 and 5441, but for the moment, I can live with a 5454.
Instead of a 3712, I have chosen a 3714 Laureus LTE.
Instead of a 5023 Perpetual calendar, I have a 5001 Automatic.
Instead of a 5703 Pure Classic, I have a 3531 Small Potugieser.
The Portuguese is one of the iconic IWC watches that I do not own. Thanks for another great article, Michael. I have to experience this great watch family vicariously...for now.
I match with Nelson...nothing would go wrong with any of these.

Thank you Michael for an interesting article and a very well justified selection of Portugiesers. I would love to expand my small collection with either of them but for the time being my ref. 5001, 5442 and 3531 will have to do.

A nice weekend read indeed. Thank you Michael. It's very difficult to disagree with your piece. I have a soft spot for the Cal 5000 and Cal 5001 because they relaunched the Portuguese family with a pocket watch sized movement.
Michael, I seem to have about the same taste ( matter of age?)
My list, which would exceed the 100.000 budget :
1.Ref.325 vintage Portugieser
2. Ref 5240, first edition minute repeater
3. Ref.5441 jubilee
4.Ref. 5023 perpetual calendar
5. Ref.5703 pure classic

Adrian,
