Yesterday evening a group of thirty watch collector friends gathered to celebrate over good food - the Chinese Lunar New Year at a small but wonderful restaurant called "Restaurant Ten" in Singapore. Quite a few of the collectors came with watches on both wrist while others brought a case but most will have only one on their wrists.

On my request for those who own a Port Jubilee, I was utter amazed that there are five - three rose gold and two steel versions.

Then when I requested to have all the Portugueses - these turn up on the table...

This is the sum total of all the watches at the celebrations. All of us at the dinner took a long time to inspect and asked questions of these pieces while they lay on the table. Such great fun to see them and to learn about owner experiences.

    Thanks Argiris! :-)
Indeed the food was outstanding. Very original chinese cuisine with herbal soups as being the house speciality. I would recommend it hightly for anyone here in Singapore or even those visiting. I would have shared images of the food that evening but unfortunately, I am not one who photographs food for watch reports. I am usually too engrossed at eating, having conversations or playing with the watches! LOL...

What a great way to spend an evening. I am in awe of the amazing array of IWC watches on that table...especially the Jubilee lineup. Thanks for sharing photos of this collector's gathering...and Happy New Year to our friends in Singapore!

Thank you Harry, your pictures are a joy for the eyes and it's not just about the jubilees, my first instinct was I wanted to dive into that sea made of Portuguese watches!

The pw black dial is marvelous, is it a ref. 5000 platinum at the bottom of last picture?

    Thanks for posting!

    Thanks for posting.

Thanks, Roberto - by sheer coincidence the black dial pocketwatch had just come back from the Schaffhausen spa treatment that day. It's a calibre 97 and the only black dial I have ever found (though I have seen some on the forum).

The silver dial watch at the bottom of the third picture is not an IWC but a Stowa Exima with an old German PUW movement - it looks a bit like the classic calibre 89 IWC watches from the 50s.

It did feel like watching the unstoppable rise of the Portu-Geezers ... though in fairness it has to be said that Harry had asked for everyone to bring their Jubilees and ref. 2000 Portuguese.

    Cheers from Singapore, Dirk

Thanks Dirk for chiming in. :-)
Dirk is clearly our local guru on all things IWC and all of us admire his wonderful collection of IWC watches - especially his Pocket Watches. We can only salivate over them at such gatherings. He has an uncanny ability to hunt down these wonderful pieces.

The evening was organised by one of our more interpid collector - Mr Eddie Sng who is also an avid IWC collector and he managed to hunt down a rose gold Jubilee some weeks ago. So it was my idea to have the other Jubilees (and Ref.2000) meet up with the newcomer at the dinner :-)
