I am certain we can arrange for another gathering of "Portly-Geezers" (as one chap at the dinner said) when you are next visiting us here in Singapore. Its been awhile since your last visit and it would be great to meet up again.
First of all, with all that hardware, I'm amazed there was not a platinum 5441! And secondly, can I ask how many people were at this wonderful feast? If you tell me less than 20, I'm going to fall out of my chair. What a selection of watches! Was everyone required to be a WIS to attend?
Thanks, Michael - your rather beautiful "Chronometre" looks familiar - have you shown this before or is it just because the 2-4-6-8-10-12 dial looks like the Portuguese from the vintage collection?
We have a growing number of serious collectors and Dirk as always - being the ever humble chap he is - the resident IWC WIS. :-) But he is right that not all of the collectors are madcap collector of all kinds of horological information. This group manages to keep constantly in touch with each other regularly through the wonders of the internet and the dyed-in-the-blood need to gather regularly to catch up on all things horological. I guess we are fortunate that the island is small and to get a group together is a lot easier than WIS found in other locations.
But as Dirk said, friendship is the most critical component!
Wow, I wish to make friends with you as well, im residing in the red dot as well and have a very small humble collection of IWC and a keen interest in classical looking watches!
