At SIHH the subject of another Collector's Forum watch was brought up and discussed. The conclusion I drew was this... If the Forum members could come to some agreement we could present our proposal and get a favorable determination.
So....at the risk of opening a can of worms I figured I would start this thread.

In my opinion if a good number of us mutually agree on a model type and collectively agree to put our money behind it we have a good chance of getting it done. But if we have fifty members with fifty different opinions then all we will create is more posts.

In order to get the maximum participation I think we need to choose a relatively lower priced model. Otherwise, we are probably fooling ourselves.

So, if you would like to participate what are your opinions?

BTW, my post has not been discussed with MF in any way. I thought it would be best to get some initial feedback before we proceed.

my choices would be, all in steel

a) something with the digital date movement (round, not tonneau - ok, I am being selfish here)

b) a compass watch in the pilot or ingenieur collection

c) a CF pilot would be nice - the world timer or spitfire with sunburst (sorry, I don't know the references yet - brain is a little fried from the SIHH-adrenaline-rush.

This is great news indeed, since Mr.Kern agreed on a new CF Watch I don't see why we should not have a third CF. In my opinion we should look for something that most collectors could afford and not aim too high.
So what we should go for is a current family model with just a dial variation and please individual case personalisation.
Have in mind that this might take long in order to get into production and the general rule has been a CF Watch every five years with the CFDV being delivered in 2010 we are lookiing 2015.
I ll think of something.

Thats a great idea and even better that the forum members can give their piece of advice!

For me it would be interesting is:
- classical watch, not to fancy... but weather understated as the CF I (one that gets many many wrist time!)
- movement is interesting
- would be nice if our names could be engraved again... that's kind of special too.

For me the options would be:
- Yacht club
- VC Inge
- Port 8 days

1. Simple steel watch with in-house movement, at most chronograph
2. CF Pilot or CF Portuguese
3. individual case personalization (as mentioned by Argiris)

Some ideas of watch:-

1. Dial variation of Splitfire Chronograph 3878
2. Pilot or Portuguese watch make use of 8-days handwound movement

There were a couple of discussions on this a while back and one of the ideas that came up, which I very strongly support, is a round Pallweber watch - that would be simply awesome.

I understand that this may be difficult as it is not a current watch and maybe not on IWC's radar at all. If this is not doable I have two other wishes:

1. Portuguese, SS with 7 day movement and ardoise dial (what about a CF logo on the front?)
2. If it can happen fairly quickly, and since this is the year of the pilots, a Spitfire chrono ardoise (very much like the one just presented at SIHH) but with the hour and minute chrono counter at 12 o'clock. Here is a crazy idea - what if the case was made of bronze?? I know some manufacturers use this material and it looks really cool - this would make "our" watch really stand out.

I thing its a great idea from Alan to have a consensus for a watch dedicated to the Forum members. I absolutely agree with him that it should be within a budget say around US $ 8000.Since it is the year of the Pilot I suggest a pilots watch :
1. In steel.
2. White dialas this would distinguish it as a CF watch since the new pilot series does not include any white dial watch.
3. Case size 43 / 45 mm which should suit all wrist. Like the New Pilot Chrono or the World Timer with the same movement.
4. As already suggested names engraved at the back.

Great idea. The Spitfire Chrono with blue sunburst dial, and I'm in. Pity for IWC: they then lose an almost certain sell of the regular Spitfire Chrono.

Oh well, and why not the Mark XVII with a blue sunburst dial? I would do it, and buy the Spitfire Chrono too. As a symbol it has not to be a very expensive watch, but it must be attractive.

Agree with most of you. I would try to keep it simple, so most of us could afford it.
Ive always liked the look of the platinum watches from IWC ¡, that are not normally offered in a regular version. So a white dial, silver numerals, and would be fantastic.
Add this to a Portuguese, or Portifino case with the new 8 days hand wound mov...and I would die for it!

BP CF would be also awesome, although price might be an issue...

I need a new job to sign up for this, but the suggestions are on the right track for me.

Some suggestions:

1: SS Vintage Inge with a white dial

2: SS Vintage Aquatimer with a blue or ardoise dial

3: SS Vintage Pilot with a smooth (not knurled) bezel (and preferably dial plus hands like those in MK X)

My hope is for the spitfire perpetual calendar digital date - month in SS or the portofino in SS with perpetual calendar.

We are all over the world as collectors...so we should have a "Worldtimer" to show this. And the new "Worldtimer" has the right size and the right price range...so: I would go for that as a FW3!

Simple for me. Just enlarge the perfect watch to 40mm, copying everything proportionally. No changes other than size. SS case. No date.

Another suggestion:

MK XVII modified as follows:

1. Remove the date window completely i.e. no date at all.
2. Use the hands from the Spitfire chronograph
3. Either black, or ardoise dial

Provide it with a bracelet and a dark brown leather strap, please.

This would create a nice modern pilot watch for conservatives like me, who prefer the pure aesthetics of the classic MK XI.

This one in 40 or 42mm max. Preferably with a cal 982 modified for center seconds.
