...Well the idea of coming up with a CF watch designed or endorsed by collectors has been discussed here previously. CEO George Kern has repeatedly offered to produce such watch, if there was enough interest and a financial guarantee. It did not succed while IWC collectors were not intended to come up with compromises and sticked to their own ideas and taste.
So, one more opinion : it could be a pilots watch in the year of the pilot. Clypsydra, Tonny B, Jiipee and Nelson agree. It could be more or less a copy of THE legendary pilot watch Mk 11. It would be very successful as was the 1993 Portugieser Jubilee, being almost a 100 % copy from the ref. 325. And if the series was limited to 50 or so, it would not surprise me, that somewhere in a drawer at IWC, 50 cal. 89 with central second can be found : the motor of the best pilot watch ever.
Adrian,
(alwaysiwc).
I'm obviously favourable.
What I think it's superfluous, so, I guess a wordltimer would just work fine, but if I think of why the first CF watch is felt as very special, even nowadays, is because it was meant to celebrate the reprise of an icon IWC watch, with a new in-house movement and it had a special dial too!
So, I guess the winning formula would be: iconic IWC watch, in-house movement, special dial.
I'd personally like to have a chronograph but this is just me.
Great idea - and lots of great suggestions in this thread.
A CF Pallwebber? Be still my heart!!!
I like the idea of a pilot icon, so I'll suggest a Mark XV with special dial, with both bracelet and strap. Alternatively, and if it helps hold down cost, it could be the Mark XVII but with traditional date window and a special color dial. I love Tonny's idea of the reverse engraved "pilot: (owner's name") and the thought of some sort of CF logo or nomenclature on the dial is good.
Alternates could be the Portofino 8 day or VC Portuguese with special dials and Santoni straps.
I think a key is to keep the cost down, which means SS.
While we should not assume that the watch is a fait accompli (I believe GK's reply was "why not?" when asked) there are at least two things to keep in mind:
--there can't be any movement changes or customization, other than possibly rotor engraving
--there can't be any case changes, other than possibly engraving
The reasons are both cost and production-cycle scheduling.
This leaves us with special dials, possibly back engraving, and special straps. Also, given the desire for an accessible cost I like either classic Chrono with the new 83965 in-house movement or the WorldTimer with a different color dial (at least with Schaffhausen on it).
A WorldTimer with Schaffhausen and a location of the buyer's choice. And personal engraving on the back, of course.

Henrik
Hello all,
Been some time ago but IMHO a portuguese (as those are my favorite) or flieger forum watch would be superb !
Cheers,
Mark
Considering the limits Michael said, I would see Pilot watch with reasonable price. In my opinion the watch based on Mark XVI with some changes in hands (could be possible use from Mark IX like for Japan SE), dial colour (to change to blue, white or brown), to change IWC at dial to International Watch. Co., colour of seconds hand could be different (the same was in SE for Mark XII), probably could be possible to make Mark XVI without date (also would be interesting).
I would order another Forum watch provided there was an in-house movement. a variant of the 8 day hand wound Portofino in steel would be nice.
Always good to have the discussion going and some great ideas have come along already. The new Spitfire chrono with in house movement is one of my favorites but a worldtimer with 2x Schaffhausen on it would be a nice watch too.
A variation on the Mark XVII with that gorgeous new bracelet would be great.
Regards, Marinus
Agree with Clepsydra, Tonny B., Jiipee, Nelson and Alwaysiwc, a more or less copy of the legendary Mk XI.
+1
We have a winner.....!
I am glad Michael that we seem to have similar views(Ref my pervious post). It is quiet understandable that it impractical to have any major deviation from present models in production. I would like reiterate that any of the new pilot watch (New Pilot Chrono or the World timer) with a white dial would be great to go for !!!
Here is a simple to create and cost effective suggestion. I borrowed a picture of a MK XVII from the net and did a simple clean-up for the dial. It's not quite the pilot watch of my dreams - that would be a 39-41mm version of the MK XI with an in-house movement, but if that dream is unattainable, I would be interested to get this one.
With the pointers from Michael I would like to see a special version of either:
A different color dial with the beautiful old font International Watch Co on the front and each owner's name engraved on the back.
Eliminating the word "automatic" would leave room for some special Collectors Forum nomenclature - such as Roberto's signature logo shown here:

As Skule suggests, I like the idea of a VC Portuguese.
