There is an excellent thread going regarding a possible Collectors Forum Watch 3 and there are many good ideas being suggested. I am posting this separately so as to not draw away from that discussion.
The challenge will be getting to some sort of consensus. MF has provided guidance that it needs to be an existing case and I assume an existing movement, with perhaps customization limited to the dial.
So how will we develop a consensus?
May I suggest:
Step 1 - MF select a team of 4 or 5 volunteers from this Forum to review all the ideas, and develop a group of 3 or 4 specific suggestions, such as (examples only) JIIPEE's Mark XVII no date but with ardoise dial, Portofino 8 day with blue dial, Big Pilot with white dial and CF nomenclature.
Step 2 - panel presents the options on this Forum and we vote to determine a favorite
Step 3 - Let the tweaking begin! Working with that choice, suggest and discuss possible modifications (CF nomenclature on dial, Owner name on back, bracelet and/or strap, etc etc
Step 4 - panel presents list of 3 or 4 proposed modifications for vote.
Step 5 - Final choice from this process presented by MF to IWC for comment, decision whether to proceed, pricing, etc
Remember, for the project to have a chance of succeeding, we will need to somehow come to a consensus. Discussing "we could do this.... we could do that....." forever will not get the job done! Your thoughts on this proposal are welcome.
